Our Space - Tidying Up
The vast majority of people who walk their dogs in Paddington Old Cemetery (POC) treasure the beauty of the place and go out of their way to contribute to keeping it clean and tidy. As well as picking up our own dogs' mess (as of course is only right), many members of Dogs of Paddington Old Cemetery (DOPOC) regularly pick up and dispose of any other dog or fox poos that we come across during our walks.
The bins in POC don't have lids, so it's common for foxes to get into them during the night and pull out empty food boxes and wrappers, scattering the contents all over.
And sadly some humans don't put their rubbish in the bins.
Members of DOPOC make a point of regularly picking up and disposing of any rubbish we find lying around.
Without the presence of people walking their dogs, POC would likely revert to being the haunt of drug addicts and drug dealers, as it was during the short period about 25 years ago when dogs were banned, making it a dangerous place to walk, especially for women on their own.
